How Finger Lakes Dental Care Manages Dental Pain and Anxiety

In this video, Dr. Jason explains the difference between dental pain and dental anxiety and how Finger Lakes Dental Care manages both.

Dental pain management includes how we control tooth pain, gum pain, and the nerves of the teeth using techniques to make you as comfortable as possible. We use numbing gels (made by a pharmacy) to numb the gums and freeze sprays used on the roof of the mouth to take the edge off of pain. We also apply a neutral anesthetic solution to numb injections and make dental shots hurt less.

Dental anxiety includes the measures we take to get you through your dental appointment so that you feel super relaxed and comfortable during your dental visit. We start with basic things like ceiling tv’s and in-ear music that help calm anxiety by distraction. Sedation options from nitrous oxide (laughing gas) which takes the edge off of nerves, to oral conscious sedation and IV sedation are also used. We also take pride in developing and nurturing long-term trust with our patients which goes a long way in how you feel about going to the dentist.
